29 January 2011: Splits, boxes, frames
29 January[edit]
Splits, boxes, frames.
Present: Jérôme, Julien, Laïa, An, Kobe, Wendy, Michael, Wauter, Sarah, Peter, Maniseng, Strike.
The idea was to talk about 'How to produce crops / inserts / splitscreens'
But many subjects were proposed subsequently, finally we tlaked about:
Possibility to work on Mac with an open source editor. Michael, Maniseng, Wauter checked the live dvd kxstudio. This live cd includes Kdenllive, so it would be ideal to work with students for example.
Conclusion: very slow and it is not clear where you store material that you produce. The dvd is not writable, you don't have permissions to write to the hard drive, writing to an external usb disk is way to slow. To be looked at.
Positive note on Kdenlive: kdenlive on linux allows for importing .vob files from dvd Let's check Kdenlive out next meeting.
A look at Cinelerra Some people were curious to see Cinelerra they never have used it. P en S. went through a few options: using the camera projector, and briefly discussed working with proxies, although this needs to be further investigated.
Don't forget: for capturing iin Dvgrab or Kino, there is still the 'raw1394 module problem' to be solved !
